Providing education about Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and encouraging resilience so our West Michigan community can thrive.

Thrive Ottawa County is a group of West Michigan organizations and individuals dedicated to informing our community about the importance of understanding the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), providing local ACEs data, and linking people to resilience resources.

Learn More About ACEs

ACEs stands for Adverse Childhood Experiences, which is a group of negative experiences or trauma that a child may experience while growing up. These can include things like physical and sexual abuse, domestic violence, neglect, mental illness in the home, and more. Even witnessing distressing events can have a huge negative impact, and it can continue from generation to generation if the cycle isn’t broken.

Learn More About Resilience

If you’ve experienced any kind of ACE in your life, that’s not the end of the story. Anyone can develop resilience, which is the ability to bounce back and return to being healthy and hopeful after bad things happen. It takes work, but there are steps you can take to develop resilience in your life after experiencing trauma.
